China's Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan has asked government departments to provide better services for SMEs and create a favorable environment for their development.

Zeng said,SMEs have great economic vitality and constitute an important part of China's national economy, so Chinese government departments should make extensive efforts to promote the industries which the SMEs are mostly involved in, such as, the labor-intensive industry and the service, manufacturing and high technology industries, etc.

Zeng asked the departments to improve coordination, make efforts to broaden and regulate market access for SMEs and ease their financial difficulties. Government officials also were asked to focus on quality rather than quantity of SMEs and help SMEs to realize sustainable development.

He also demanded that SMEs pay more attention to social responsibilities in their pursuit of economic profit, standardize business activities and guarantee employees' rights.
