To fully implement the specific work related to the co-sponsoring of the 5th CISMEF, LEE PING KUEN, section supervisor of Overseas Market Section of Korean Small and Medium Enterprise Administration joined efforts with Mr. Kim Chang Nam, Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Guangzhou to lead the a group of 13 members from Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business, Foreign Trade Association, Korea Small Business Corporation, Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency(KOTRA) and KINTEX and the inspection group conducted the work inspection in Guangzhou from April 7- 10, 2008. Lin Ying, secretary general of the Secretariat of the CISMEF Organizing Committee and deputy secretary-general of Guangdong Provincial Government, and Yang Jianchu, deputy secretary general of the CISMEF Organizing Committee and director of Secretariat of the CISMEF Organizing Committee, director of Economic & Trade Commission of Guangdong Province met with and gave a dinner party in favor of the Korean delegation. Qi Zhenli, deputy director of the Secretariat of the CISMEF Organizing Committee and inspector of Economic & Trade Commission of Guangdong Province had the working interview with members of the Korean delegation; Chen Xiangxin, deputy director and concurrently executive director of the Secretariat of the CISMEF Organizing Committee and deputy director of Economic & Trade Commission of Guangdong Province also had an interview with the members of the delegation.

During their stay in Guangzhou, members of the Korean delegation inspected Guangzhou International Conference and Exhibition Center and had three working meetings with the Secretariat of the CISMEF Organizing Committee concerning the co-sponsoring of the 5th CISMEF. Both sides exchanged friendly communication and reached consensus on a series of issues in view of some problems, particularly, the overall plan of the Sino-Korean Small and Medium Business Expo and joint efforts to strengthen the publicity for the exhibition promotion, jointly sponsoring the summit forum and art performance parties, etc. Both sides expressed their willingness for sincere cooperation and joint efforts to bring the 5th CISMEF into a pragmatic and cooperative and fruitful international fair. At he close of the meeting, He Zuoxian, leader of the Overseas Foreign Affairs Group of the Secretariat of the CISMEF Organizing Committee and division head of Guangdong Provincial SME Development Department and LEE PING KUEN, section supervisor of Overseas Market Section of Korean Small and Medium Enterprise Administration signed ¡°A Memorandum concerning the Co-sponsoring the 5th China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair & Sino-Korea Small and Medium Enterprises Fair¡± in the presence of Director Yang Jianchi and Inspector Qi Zhenli and other honorable guests of the Chinese side and the Korean side.

In accordance with the provisions of the Memorandum, the Republic of Korea, at the invitation of the Chinese government, will be the country of honor and jointly sponsor the 5th CISMEF, The Korean Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Small and Medium Enterprise Department of Korea will be identified as the executive organizers on the Korean side. By then the Korean side will organize more than 300 enterprise exhibitors for the 5th CISMEF. The exhibition area of the Korean exhibitors will be no less than one exhibition hall (approximately 10,000 square meters). Besides, Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP), will additionally organize 100 design, creative consultancy enterprises and another 50-100 exhibition booths will be reserved as the Korean Design Exhibition Area.
At present the Secretariat of the CISMEF Organizing Committee is discussing and implementing the co-sponsoring of the 5th CISMEF with the Korean side in accordance with the provisions of the Memorandum so as to promote the smooth progress of the preparation of the 5th CISMEF.
